What am I missing to unlock the true ending in The Last Stand?

I just finished The Last Stand and I’m stuck on this feeling that the game’s true ending is locked behind something I missed, maybe a specific item or dialogue path. I explored every corner of the final zone but the conclusion I got felt abrupt, like a piece was missing. Has anyone else felt the narrative closure was just out of reach on their first playthrough?

I felt the same after the credits flicked by. It was like a final door clicked shut and I was left staring at a hallway with no signpost. I checked every room, every character dialogue, even reloaded an old save to poke different choices, and it still felt abrupt.

I did a full sweep of the final zone, talked to everyone, and hunted for an optional item people joked about online. Nothing changed the ending for me. It made me wonder if I missed a hidden dialogue cue, but I couldn't find one.

Maybe the issue is pacing or tone. The game gives you high stakes and then abruptly moves on. It almost feels like the writers pulled back for a clean bow rather than giving you a slice of aftermath.

Do you think the problem is the desire for closure vs the game's texture? I keep looping on that thought, wondering if I just wanted a more definite beat.
