What audio data does my smart speaker record and who can access it?

I’ve noticed my smart speaker’s activity log shows it’s been triggered by things that definitely weren’t its wake word, like a TV commercial or even just casual conversation. It makes me wonder what snippets of audio are being recorded and sent out, and who might be reviewing that data.

Yeah I noticed the same thing. The log showed triggers from things that clearly weren't the wake word, like a TV jingle.

I peeked at the privacy settings and turned off automatic sharing for voice recordings, and limited how long they are stored. It helped a bit, but some features still rely on audio clips.

Sometimes I wonder who actually reviews those clips, and whether it's contractors in another country. It feels like a little conspiracy theory but it's plausible.

I tried running a little test, played a few phrases and compared them with the log, and the timestamps didn't always line up. It leaves me uncertain if it's mislabeling or real detection.

Do you think the problem is the wake word itself or just how the mic picks up background noise?
