What can cause my new 5G flagship battery to drain so fast?

My new phone’s battery seems to drain way too fast when I’m just browsing on 5G, even with a strong signal. I expected better endurance from a flagship model, but it feels like I have to charge it by mid-afternoon. Has anyone else noticed this kind of behavior with their recent upgrade?

Yeah I saw the same with my new phone. Even just browsing on 5G and light use would drain the battery fast, and I'd be charging by midday. The battery usage screen pointed at the screen as the main drain, with a couple background apps nibbling. I tried dimming the display and limiting background refresh, but it didn't fix the baseline.

I did a bit of tinkering: forced 4G for a day, dropped the refresh rate to standard, and cut background refresh. It helped a little, but the general feel remained off for a flagship.

Do you think the problem is the battery itself, or could it be software updates or a background process looping? Not sure I'm convinced it's the root cause.

I started noticing how I charge and carry power banks during commutes. A few days I used wireless charging and the phone felt warmer than normal, which probably didn’t help. It drifted me away from the core issue, but I kept watching the drain anyway.
