What can I do about a laggy, jumpy trackpad after a Windows update?
#1
I just installed the latest Windows 11 feature update, and now my laptop's trackpad feels completely off. The cursor seems to jump around, and two-finger scrolling is way too sensitive. I tried adjusting the pointer speed in the settings, but it doesn't really fix the laggy, erratic behavior. Has anyone else run into this after an update?

I had something like this after a Windows update. The cursor would jump and two finger scroll felt off. I tried tweaking the pointer speed but it did not fix it. I rolled back the touchpad driver to the older version that came with the laptop and that helped a bit.

I also tried it with an external mouse and saw the difference. The problem remained on the pad though. I fiddled with the driver settings and switched to a generic driver, then adjusted the two finger scrolling acceleration. It helped a little.

I kept thinking it was a hardware thing until I noticed one background app was chewing up CPU when I moved. Task Manager showed a single process spiking. After closing that app, the movement felt smoother for a while.

Not sure this is the real problem did you try a clean boot to rule out software conflicts?
