What can i do about a private clique forming in our online community?
#1
I’ve noticed a few regulars in our community starting to form what feels like a private clique, making newer members hesitant to join conversations. It’s creating a subtle but real barrier to entry, and I’m unsure how to gently address this without seeming like I’m policing friendships.

I have seen a small circle form during chats and new members tend to stay quiet. I tried to nudge a quieter person by asking about their view and it died fast.

One idea that felt doable was a small friendly prompt to welcome someone new every time a topic starts.

Could the real issue be timing or workload rather than a clique?

I did try a friendly prompt to invite newcomers at the start and kept a light count of who spoke after that. It added one new voice then drifted back to the same noise level.
