What can I do about gut cramps from antibiotics?
#1
I’ve been prescribed a course of antibiotics for a stubborn sinus infection, but I’m worried about how it might affect my gut. I’ve heard these medications can disrupt the normal balance down there, and I’m starting to feel some early cramping. Has anyone else dealt with this specific issue during treatment?

I went through something similar a couple years back. Started antibiotics for a stubborn sinus infection and within a few days I had cramping and gut felt off. I kept a rough diary: pill times, meals, and how my bowels behaved. The pattern was gut symptoms followed by a few days of looser stool.

Could it be something else causing the cramps, like dehydration or the decongestant, rather than the gut balance?

I tried taking the pill with meals and staying hydrated, and the cramps eased a bit on those days, then the gut felt off again later.

If it gets worse or lasts beyond a few days after finishing the course, I’d call the doctor. Some folks mention probiotics or yogurt during antibiotics, but I wasn’t sure it would help and skipped pushing that option.
