What can I do about wireless mouse lag in fast-paced shooters?
#1
I’ve been using the same wired mouse for years and just got a new wireless one, but I’m noticing a tiny bit of lag in fast-paced shooters. My setup is pretty clean, so I don’t think it’s interference, but I can’t tell if it’s in my head or if there’s actually a difference in sensor performance.

I swapped to wireless a while back and noticed a tiny lag in fast clips. I cranked the polling rate up to 1000 Hz and tried switching USB ports to a direct motherboard header. It helped a bit, but the improvement was marginal unless the battery was fresh and the dongle stayed within a few inches.

You're not imagining it. In the heat of hitscan, even a small jitter makes it feel off. I kept telling myself it was my aim, not the mouse, but the feel wasn't the same as wired.

I did try to pin it down by swapping mice and keeping the same sensor settings, and I still felt the gap. Maybe the sensor itself has a tiny lag on wireless, maybe it's firmware, or maybe my brain is exaggerating.

Could the real issue be something else, like your DPI or in game sensitivity, or even monitor refresh and V Sync? I kept chasing latency and then wondered if I was fooling myself.
