What can I do to boost pre-order conversions for my software?
#1
I’ve been running a small pre-order campaign for my software tool, and while the initial sign-ups looked promising, the actual conversion to paid is way lower than I projected. I’m trying to figure out if this is just a pricing issue or if it means my initial problem-solution fit was weaker than I thought.

Had something similar last quarter. Signups looked great, but paid conversions stayed flat after the landing page. I blamed pricing at first, but it felt more like people didn’t feel the value quickly.

I did a quick funnel check and talked to a handful of users. Activation after signup was weak; most never reached the aha moment. A few mentioned they expected more features for the cost.

We ran a small test and mapped the value people expect to the steps they take in the product. The core path felt thin—people saw the problem but weren’t convinced the tool was the answer at that level of commitment. Hard to know if it’s the fit or the offer.

One time I spent a week adjusting onboarding copy because I thought the problem was messaging. Turns out the snag was the signup flow itself; once we simplified it, a few more people stuck with it. Do you think the real issue might be onboarding friction rather than price?
