What can I do to bring back excitement and break out of this gray routine?

I’ve realized I can’t remember the last time I felt truly excited about anything, and it’s starting to worry me. My days just sort of blur together in a flat, gray routine without any real peaks of anticipation or joy, even for things that used to light me up. I’m not sure if this is just a phase or something I need to actively work on changing.

That sounds rough. I’ve been there when days slide by and nothing seems to light up. It’s scary not knowing if it’s just a phase or something bigger.

I tried keeping a tiny daily highlight log for a week, even if the thing was small—a song you liked, a call you had, a snack that surprised you. It wasn’t a cure, but it made the gray feel a little less permanent.

Could be burnout or sleep, or maybe you’re just in a long quiet season. It kinda makes you question what joy even is anymore.

I’m not sure, but talking to someone you trust feels like a reasonable move. If this sticks, a quick check in with a clinician or counselor might help you map what’s going on.
