What can I do to fix an erratic sleep schedule and morning routine?

I’ve been trying to stick to a consistent morning routine for months, but my sleep schedule is so erratic it keeps throwing everything off. I just can’t seem to find a sustainable rhythm that actually works with my body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.

I’ve been there. I tried locking a strict wake time for weeks, but if I stayed up late once, everything got thrown off. It turned out the real problem was how I reset after a rough night, not the morning itself.

One small move that helped a bit was getting bright light within an hour of waking and taking a quick walk outside. It didn’t fix it, but the morning felt less chaotic.

I’ve found I drift less when I add tiny steps instead of a big overhaul. A 10 minute routine, then 15, then 20 – it’s ugly and inconsistent, and I’m not even sure this is the right lever, but it beats quitting after day two.

Do you think the issue is the evolving schedule or the stress and tasks that spill into bedtime?
