What causes lingering joint pain after a strep throat infection?

With ongoing manga series, there's always room for speculation and manga theories. I love reading through manga theories that people develop based on subtle clues and foreshadowing.

Some manga theories I've seen recently have completely changed how I view certain characters or plot points. What manga theories have caught your attention lately? Do you have any manga theories of your own that you're particularly proud of?

I had a pretty nasty case of strep throat last month, and while the antibiotics cleared it up, my joints in my hands and knees have been aching ever since. My doctor mentioned it could be a post-streptococcal complication, but the tests weren't definitive. Has anyone else dealt with lingering joint pain after a bacterial infection cleared?

I went through something similar last year. After strep I had sharp pains in both hands and knees that hung around for a couple of months. The tests kept coming back unclear. I kept moving, did short daily walks, used heat on the joints, and took NSAIDs when the pain spiked. It slowly faded, but it took a long time.

I can't swear it was the same thing, but the timing lined up for weeks. Pain came and went, especially after long days or lifting things. The doctor said it might be post infection inflammation, but there was no big red flag. It eased up after a while with steady activity.

A few weeks in I did see a rheumatologist. They mentioned reactive arthritis or post-strep arthritis as possibilities even if tests stayed negative. The plan was NSAIDs, gentle physical therapy, and watching for any red flags. It helped some, but there wasn’t a clean fix.

I once blamed the weather because my knees hurt more on damp days, then realized the throat thing was a month old. Still, the joint pain persisted for a time even when the rest of me recovered. Slowed down, stretched, and it gradually got better.

Looping back to the infection, I kept wondering if I was overreacting or if something else was going on. I didn't want to chase every ache, but I also didn't want to ignore it. After several weeks it mostly settled.

Did anyone else get a normal test but still have months of joint pain after a throat infection?

I'm not confident this is the same thing for everyone. Some days are fine, some days a stiff finger or knee flares up for no clear reason. It’s frustrating and hard to know when to push through or rest.
