What causes my phone to dim during long gaming sessions?

I just lost a huge PvP match because my phone dimmed the screen right in the middle of a crucial team fight. I have the brightness maxed and battery saver off, but it still seems to happen randomly during longer sessions. Is this some hidden setting in the game itself or is my phone just overheating and forcing it?

That happened to me in a long push too. Brightness maxed, but the phone still dimmed during the fight. Usually I think the OS is dimming to cool the thing down when it overheats, not because of the game.

I kept thinking it was the game freezing or something, but it seems temp related. When the device gets warm the OS can drop brightness even if you disable battery saver.

I tried closing background apps and keeping it cooler — off a desk, near a fan. It helped a bit, but the dimming still showed up when the session got long.

Could it be the display sleep kicking in after a long session? Not sure, but I’ve seen temp spikes and brightness drops when things get hot.
