What causes persistent eye floaters when the retina looks normal?
#1
I’ve been noticing a persistent, annoying floater in my right eye that looks like a tiny gray smudge, and it seems to drift whenever I try to look directly at it. My optometrist said my retina looks fine during my last check-up, but this specific one is really starting to bother me during daily tasks like reading or working on the computer.

I’ve had floaters after long days staring at a screen too. It showed up as a tiny gray speck that drifts when I try to focus on it, which makes reading or code work annoying. Over a few weeks it didn’t go away, but it did become less distracting because I learned to ignore it and looked around more instead of staring straight at it.

I’m not a doctor, but when my retina was checked and everything looked fine yet the floaters stuck around, I started wondering if there’s a small vitreous change behind it. It didn’t turn into anything urgent for me, but I kept worrying until I got a second opinion.

I tried making my workstation easier on the eyes—bigger fonts, higher contrast, fewer bright screens, and I forced myself to take breaks every 20 minutes. The floater bugged me less when I wasn’t staring fixedly at the screen, though it didn’t disappear.

Have you noticed flashes of light or a curtain at the edge of your vision when the eye moves?
