What causes random bloating with a functional gi disorder?
#1
I’ve been dealing with what my doctor calls a functional gastrointestinal disorder for a while now, but the bloating and discomfort seem completely random. I can eat the same thing two days in a row and have a totally different reaction, which makes it so frustrating to figure out any triggers. Has anyone else experienced this kind of unpredictability?

Yeah, me too. Some weeks are fine, others every meal feels like playing roulette.

I tried keeping a simple food-and-symptom log for a month; pattern never held steady, like a random roll of the dice.

I had that thing with bread spiking things and two days later it was fine, maybe it’s part of a larger functional GI disorder.

Sometimes I wonder if the real problem is how we’re measuring discomfort, not the gut itself.

I quit trying to decode every meal and started focusing on sleep, hydration, and movement; relief came a bit but still unpredictable.

It can feel like a prank; one bite and you’re doubled over, next time you shrug it off.

Do you notice it worse after sleep deprivation or stress?
