What could be causing 5GHz drops and slow 2.4GHz on my mesh network?

My new mesh router system is supposed to blanket the house, but I keep getting kicked off the 5GHz band in my home office. The 2.4GHz signal is solid but painfully slow for video calls, and I’ve already tried moving one of the satellite units closer without any luck. I’m wondering if there’s some kind of interference or a device setting forcing the drop.

I get that. In my house the 5GHz would drop to nothing as soon as I started a video call. 2.4 kept a basic connection but was glacial. I even moved a satellite unit a few times and swapped plugs, but the drops still happened. I started noticing it when the network got crowded.

I played with backhaul settings and channel selection. I turned off auto channel hopping on 5GHz and picked a clear channel for the backhaul. It helped a little, but the drop still shows up during meetings.

Maybe the issue isn’t interference at all. Could be the device or app settings on your laptop or a VPN kicking the connection. Hard to tell without a log.

Is the real issue that the 5GHz band just doesn't penetrate your office wall?
