What could be causing a two-month sore throat with no other symptoms?

I’ve had this persistent, low-grade sore throat for about two months now, and it’s starting to worry me. It’s not severe enough to stop me from talking or swallowing, but it’s this constant raw feeling that just won’t go away, and I’m not sure what could be causing it since I don’t have a cold or any other symptoms.

That sounds rough. I had a similar two month thing once. It lingered after a minor cold and I started blaming dry office air and allergies. I tried a humidifier in the bedroom, warm saltwater gargles, and lozenges, which helped a little but didn’t fix it. It sort of hovered at a low, uncomfortable level for weeks.

I kept hoping it would just vanish, and I’d push through calls and meetings hoping my voice would recover, but it wouldn’t stay quiet long. Some days it felt almost normal, other days it burned a bit when I swallowed. It was frustrating not knowing what was going on.

From what happened to me, constant throat irritation without a cold can come from dry air, allergies, or reflux, but there are lots of other possibilities that could show up like sinus drainage or irritation from talking a lot. None of those feel dramatic in the moment, just stubborn and annoying.

If you’re worried about something more serious, have you noticed any red flags like fevers, coughing up blood, or weight changes? I’m not a doctor, but those would make me want a quick check.
