What could cause a high-pitched whine in my Honda Accord when turning at a stop?

I’ve got a 2015 Honda Accord that’s developed a faint but constant high-pitched whine from the engine bay. It seems to get a bit louder when I turn the steering wheel at a stop, but it’s always there while driving. I’m not sure if it’s a belt issue, a pulley bearing, or maybe something with the power steering pump.

That sound in a 2015 Accord often points to an accessory belt area. I’d start by inspecting the drive belt for glazing or cracks and checking the tensioner pulley for play. If the belt is slipping even a little, you’ll hear a high pitched whine that gets louder with load like turning at a stop.

I had something similar last year. The belt looked fine, but the tensioner was stiff. Replaced belt plus tensioner and the whine dropped right away. Took it for a quick test drive and it felt smoother.

One thing that bugs me about these models is the power steering setup. Some folks assume a pump, but newer accords use electric assist. If yours is actually electric, the noise might be from an accessory under load rather than a hydraulic pump. Still, a pulley bearing can be the culprit.

If you’re not seeing a quick fix, maybe just park with the hood up and have someone slowly turn the wheel while you listen near the belts. It’s messy, but you’ll get a clue where it comes from. I tried that and it helped me decide to replace the tensioner.
