What could cause a weak urine stream and hesitancy in older adults?

I’ve been noticing a weak stream when I urinate for a few months now, and it’s starting to worry me. It feels like it takes longer to empty my bladder, and sometimes there’s a bit of hesitancy at the start. I’m in my late forties and otherwise healthy, so I’m wondering if this is just a normal part of aging or something I should actually get checked out.

That sounds worrying, not something to just shrug off. If it's been going on for months, it seems reasonable to see a clinician to check what's going on.

I did something similar a while back and kept hoping it would improve on its own, but it mostly hung around; not sure if I missed something or if it would have cleared up with more time.

Have you noticed any other symptoms like waking at night to pee, pain, or blood in the urine?

I tried keeping notes on when it felt weakest and what I drank around those times, and it didn’t really reveal a clear pattern, but it did remind me how easy it is to tell yourself it’s nothing.
