What could cause rough, bumpy patches on the backs of my arms?

I’ve had this stubborn patch of rough, bumpy skin on the backs of my arms for years, and it just never seems to go away. I always thought it was just dry skin, but no amount of moisturizer makes a difference.

I had something like that too. kept thinking it was dry skin and kept slathering lotion, never saw much change.

I tried a gentle scrub with a washcloth a couple times a week and then heavy moisturizer after. It felt smoother for a day or two, but the rough patch came back.

I did see a clinician once. They suggested a prescription cream, but it didn’t really fix it for me. Not sure if I gave it enough time.

Sometimes I wonder if the patch is masking a bigger issue, or if it’s just constant friction from shirts and sleeves. But that guess didn’t solve it.
