What could cause sharp pain in my lower right abdomen?
#1
I’ve been getting these sharp, stabbing pains in my lower right abdomen that come and go. It’s not constant, but when it hits it’s intense enough to make me stop what I’m doing, and I’m starting to worry about what it could be.

That sounds rough and scary. Sharp, come-and-go abdominal pain isn’t something to ignore.

I’ve had something similar before where it would flare up in waves. I paused what I was doing, breathed through it, and tried to notice what might trigger it.

If it’s in the lower right and it’s getting worse, or you’re running a fever, or you’re vomiting, you should get checked sooner rather than later.

I started keeping a little symptom log: when it happens, how long it lasts, what I ate, and whether lying still helps.

Are you able to get in today to see a clinician?

I’d consider that it could be gas or a strained muscle, but I might be wrong and you don’t want to miss something serious.

I know this is stressful and not a neat answer, but if the pain is severe or you feel faint, going to the ER is a reasonable option.
