What could cause weeks of ear pressure and muffled hearing from Eustachian tube?

I’ve been dealing with a constant feeling of pressure in my ears for about three weeks now, and it’s starting to really bother me. It’s like they won’t pop no matter what I try, and my own voice sounds muffled and strange inside my head. I’m wondering if this is related to a Eustachian tube issue, or if it could be something else entirely.

I had something similar after a cold. The pressure stuck around for weeks and my own voice sounded muffled. It felt like the ear tube was blocked. I tried chewing, yawning, and a saline spray; helped a touch but it took time to clear.

Three weeks is a long time for that. It could be fluid behind the eardrum, congestion from allergies, or a lingering mild infection. I once had a stretch like that and it slowly eased on its own, but there wasn’t a dramatic breakthrough.

Eustachian tube dysfunction seems like a plausible explanation, though I’m not a doctor. An exam with an audiologist or ENT could tell you if the ear is moving okay and whether there’s fluid.

I keep thinking maybe I misread what was going on, and something else is at play like jaw tension. If it’s still there I’d consider getting checked, even if it feels awkward to go in. Have you noticed any fever?
