What daily habits help or worsen sacroiliac joint pain?
#1
I’ve been dealing with persistent pain in my lower back and hip for months, and my doctor mentioned it could be related to sacroiliac joint dysfunction. The discomfort is really focused in that one spot, especially when I transition from sitting to standing. I’m just wondering if others have found specific movements or daily habits that seem to make their own similar joint issues feel worse or better.

I’ve been where you are. The moment I stand up from sitting, that one spot in my lower back/hip would flare. I started doing a short before‑standing routine: a few pelvic tilts, then 8–12 glute bridges, plus a tiny cushion under my sit bones to reduce that twist when I rise. It didn’t fix it, but the transitions hurt a lot less and I could move a bit more before getting the sharp jab.

For me the change didn’t come from stretches so much as small daily habits. I swapped a low‑back heavy chair for a firmer one with good lumbar support, kept the laptop screen higher, and I paused to stand and walk a minute every 30–40 minutes. Pain came and went, but the spike after sitting-to-standing eased a little over a few weeks. I also started paying attention to sleep position, because I realized I woke up tight sometimes.

I tried a ton of things and nothing felt conclusive. I did some physio‑style work and hip/core stuff, but the sacroiliac joint still felt off. Sometimes the pain seemed to shift with how I moved my legs. I’m not sure I’m chasing the right culprit.

Did you notice if it gets worse with a twist or when you try to rotate to stand? Just asking because sometimes the pattern points me somewhere else, and I end up chasing the wrong thing.
