What daily movements aggravate sacroiliac joint pain?
#1
I’ve been having this strange, deep ache in my lower back for about two months now, and my doctor mentioned it could be related to my sacroiliac joint. The pain isn’t constant, but it really flares up when I stand up from sitting or try to twist my torso. I’m just wondering if anyone else has dealt with something similar and what kind of daily movements started to make you aware of it.

I had something like that last year. The ache wasn’t constant and would flare when I stood up from a chair or tried twisting to reach something. I started noticing the exact positions that hurt—sitting with my hips rotated, or standing from a rounded spine. Heat helped a bit, and gentle hip hinge movements and slow changes from sitting to standing were easier on bad days.

Same ballpark here. After desk work and a few short runs, the pain showed up around the sacroiliac area. A standing desk helped, and I tried to avoid deep twists when the pain was sharp. I kept movements shallow, watched my pacing, and the pain faded to a low throb after a few weeks, though it would flare after long days.

Could it be more than the SI joint? I asked for imaging once because it felt 'wrong' at times, and the answer was foggy. It made me doubt what I was supposed to fix. Do you ever wake with it or is it purely movement related?

I started logging what I did and what hurt, and noticed stairs and car twists were recurring triggers. Some days I did nothing special and it settled; other days I felt dull tension after a long drive. No dramatic fix, just patience and listening to when to stop and rest a bit.
