What do these sanctions mean for ordinary people in the targeted country?

I just saw the news about the new international sanctions package being announced. I’m trying to understand what this actually means for regular people in the targeted country right now, beyond the official statements. Does this kind of pressure ever work the way they say it will?

From what I see around here the impact is slow but real. Folks cut back on extras, stretch meals, and wait for paydays to buy basics.

A market vendor I know says imports slowed and freight costs ate into margins. Some weeks shelves look normal, others you can tell the supplier got a delay and price tags jump a bit.

Sanctions are supposed to push leaders to change course but on the street people mostly notice higher prices and fewer available goods.

Do you think the real problem is the measures or the economy already under pressure and this is just a trigger?
