What do you think about the film's time-jumping rules and logic?

I just watched the new sci-fi movie everyone's talking about, and I'm still trying to figure out the rules for the alien's time-jumping ability. One scene near the end seems to contradict what was established earlier, unless I completely missed a visual cue. Has anyone else felt this way about its internal logic?

I did notice a visual cue earlier that hinted a limit but it got skipped when the scene changed and it left me puzzled.
