What do you think about the Road House remake compared to the original?

I just watched the new Road House, and I’m honestly conflicted. It feels like a completely different kind of movie than the original, more serious and less fun, and I can't decide if that's a good evolution or if it loses the spirit of what made the first one a cult classic.

I watched it last week and came away with a mixed vibe. The new Road House feels heavier and more serious, the witty banter isn’t there as much.

I kept trying to pin down what made the first one click for me—the quick back and forth, the offbeat charm. When they swapped that for grit, some of the spark was gone.

Is the problem maybe that we're expecting a remake to echo the old tone and instead get a reimagining, and the real issue is nostalgia?

I did one concrete thing after the credits: watched the original again and compared scenes. The contrast was jarring, and I still don’t know what tale the new movie was trying to tell.
