What do you think of the Road House reboot vs the original's tone?

I just watched the new Road House and I’m honestly torn. I loved the original’s campy, over-the-top charm, but this one feels so different in tone—grittier and more serious. I can’t decide if that’s a good modern take or if it loses the spirit of what made the first one fun.

I went in hoping for the campy chaos of the original and came out with a grittier, more stoic tone. The one liners were gone and I kept waiting for something over the top to land, but it never did. My friend and I kept laughing at how serious everyone sounded while the fights still blasted.

There are moments that land though. The stunt work is tight and the camera knows when to pull back and let the grit sit with you.

Maybe this is just the current vibe for action films more grounded and grim, but it costs the sense of fun the first one rode on.

I kept hoping for a barroom moment a wink or crowd energy, but they pulled that energy into a different mood. The set dressing and late night lighting still gave a similar mood, which was odd but kind of interesting.

Pacing felt off in places It drags then rushes, and I left more exhausted than exhilarated.

Do you think the real issue is the script's premise or just the way it was directed?
