What do you think of the road house remake compared to the original?

I just watched the new Road House, and I’m honestly torn. It’s so different from the original Swayze version in tone and style that I’m not sure if it even feels like a proper remake to me, or something else entirely. Has anyone else had this reaction to a film that shares a name but seems to abandon the spirit of the source?

I watched it last weekend and yeah, the tone threw me off too. It looks slick and loud, but the sparring and swagger I loved in the original felt muted. I kept waiting for that mix of wisecracks and grit, but it didn’t show up.

I ended up liking it as its own thing, not a beat-for-beat remake. It leans into darker corners and flashy set pieces, which kind of works if you’re in a different mood or want a different kind of hero. Still, it felt like two different movies stitched together and never quite finding a rhythm.

I kept asking myself, is the problem really the remake or just the marketing hype? I went in expecting the old energy and came out with something glossy and loud.

Road House felt like a different creature on screen. I did give it another go, watched it again, and the action was high energy, but the vibe never clicked with me the way the first one did.
