What do you think of the watchmen absolute edition's oversized format?

I just got the Absolute Edition of Watchmen and it's stunning, but I'm honestly a little intimidated by the oversized format. It feels more like an artifact than a book I can just curl up with. Has anyone else found the sheer physical presence of these premium editions changes how you experience the story?

I got the Absolute Edition and I did the math on how much space it takes on the shelf. With Watchmen, the oversized format makes every frame breathe; you notice the negative space, the pauses between bubbles, and you slow down in a way you don't with a standard paperback. It feels less like reading and more like appraisal, which is cool but also a little intimidating.

I tried reading it in bed once, but the weight pulled the cover closed and I had to prop it with a pillow; I stopped and went back to a regular edition.

Does the format feel like a barrier to just dropping in for a page or two, or does it actually lure you to linger longer?

I almost started jotting notes about the print quality, the ink tint, and how the gutters look with the extra margin, then I remembered I was late for a meeting. Anyway, the physical heft kind of changes your posture while you scan a page; it makes you slow down, which isn’t bad for a story that breaths in pauses.
