What does a fixed dark spot in my peripheral vision mean?
#1
I’ve been noticing a persistent, tiny dark spot in the very corner of my left eye’s vision for about a week now. It doesn’t float around like the usual specks I see sometimes, it just stays fixed in that one spot when I look to the side.

That sounds unsettling. A tiny fixed spot in the corner for a week isn’t something to ignore. It could be something benign like a pigment change or an artifact, but it might also point to something with the retina or optic nerve that an eye doctor should check.

I’ve had something similar years ago. It hung around for a few days, then I finally got my eyes checked and they did a retina exam. Nothing urgent found, and it faded afterward, but I can’t promise that’s what you’re seeing.

Are you sure it’s in the eye and not a trick your brain or the lighting is playing with you? Sometimes a fixed spot can feel real even when the eye is fine.

If you can, book an eye appointment soon. If you notice flashes, a curtain spreading across your vision, or new eye pain, go to urgent care. Since it’s persisted for about a week, it’s worth being evaluated.
