What does a retroverted uterus have to do with pain during sex?
#1
I’ve been told I have a retroverted uterus after my last pelvic exam. My doctor said it’s normal, but I’m experiencing a deep, persistent ache during intercourse that I never had before. I’m just wondering if others with this same anatomy have felt this specific kind of pain.

I have a retroverted uterus and I remember when the change showed up, it brought a deep ache during sex that I hadn’t felt before. It’s not constant, but it sticks around and flares with certain positions. People with the same anatomy told me the pain can be variable and not every day is the same.

What helped for me was trying different positions and using more lubrication; I kept a rough log of what felt better or worse and noticed the ache could be milder after longer foreplay.

I’m not sure this is the real issue. It could be pelvic floor tension, dryness, or just irritation from friction. The anatomy might set things up, but the root cause could be something else.

If you’re open to it, a few sessions with a pelvic floor physical therapist were mentioned to a friend and they said it helped some people with similar pain. It doesn’t guarantee anything, but it might be a path to explore.
