What does a retroverted uterus mean for back pain and periods?
#1
I’ve been told I have a retroverted uterus after my last pelvic exam. I’m not sure if this is related, but I’ve started noticing a dull, persistent ache in my lower back, especially around my period. Has anyone else with this same anatomy experienced something similar?

I’ve also got a retroverted uterus, and I started noticing a dull ache in my lower back around my period a few years back. It’s not a sharp cramp, just a steady kind of soreness that lingers for a day or two. Some months it’s worse if I’ve been sitting at a desk all day. I’ve found a heat pad, gentle stretches, and a warm bath help a little, but it doesn’t go away completely. I’m careful not to read too much into it because it’s easy to panic with that label, but it does feel connected to the cycle sometimes.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m just tensing up my lower back and hips around my period. I’ve had the back ache come with cramps, and I blame it on posture and stress. A quick walk or a little light movement helps briefly, but the ache creeps back. No dramatic changes, just enough to notice it.

Honestly it’s hard to tell if the pain is from the anatomy or from something else like muscle strain or digestion. I’ve seen people say it’s harmless and others say it’s a sign to check for other stuff. I don’t want to scare you, but if it’s persistent I’d want a clinician to take a look.
