What does borderline high LDL mean and should I push for more tests?
#1
I just got my annual physical results back and my doctor noted my LDL cholesterol is a bit high, calling it "borderline." I'm not sure what to make of that term, as it feels like I'm in a gray area where nothing is officially wrong yet. Should I be concerned enough to push for more tests now, or is this just a watch-and-wait situation?

I got the same 'borderline' label on my last check, and it hit me in a weird way. Not an emergency, but it draws your attention to every bite you take and every weekend nap you skip. My doctor said to monitor and retest in a few months to see if it shifts.

I actually tried a few real changes: a daily 30 minute walk, swapping out fried foods for veggies, and adding more fiber. After three months I did a follow up blood test and the number was a tiny bit better, but not by much. Still called borderline, so we kept watching rather than panicking.

Do you think the label matters more than the actual numbers? I keep wondering if the risk calculators would tell me more than a single threshold.

Honestly, part of me wants to ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist, but the waiting game and the anxiety around tests is real. I even wondered if the whole thing was the real problem or if something else in my lifestyle is driving it.
