What does low ferritin with normal hemoglobin mean for fatigue?
#1
I just got my blood work back and my doctor said my ferritin level is 15 ng/mL. She called it iron deficiency without anemia, but I’m confused because my hemoglobin was in the normal range. I’ve been feeling exhausted for months, and now I’m wondering if this low storage iron could really be the cause.

My ferritin was in the single digits once too, and the fatigue didn't vanish overnight. After a doctor started iron, it took several weeks for me to notice any change.

Even with normal hemoglobin, I felt wiped after lunch most days and food tasted flat.

Could the real problem be sleep or thyroid instead of iron?

I kept a tiny log of sleep, caffeine, and mood, and on days I felt a little better it didn’t always line up with how much iron I took.

Diet changes helped a bit: more iron rich foods and pairing with vitamin C, but the fatigue stuck around.

I’m not sure I ever connected the fatigue to the iron issue for sure; it felt like a mix of things and I left the appointment with more questions than answers.
