What does low-normal ferritin mean for fatigue and hair thinning?
#1
I just got my blood work back and my doctor said my ferritin level is 27 µg/L. He called it "low normal" but I'm still feeling pretty run down and my hair has been thinning. Has anyone else been in this gray area where the number is technically in range but you still don't feel right?

Yep, happened to me. ferritin was technically in range but I felt drained and the hair thinning got worse. I asked my doctor for a retest and a review of iron status; ended up trying a short course and taking vitamin C with meals. It helped a little after a few weeks, but it didn’t feel like a slam dunk.

For me it wasn’t just the number. Fatigue stuck around even with a normal reading, and the hair thing turned out to be other stuff too like sleep quality and stress. I focused on basics: steady sleep, hydration, better meals, and gave the body time to adjust.

Mine hovered around that edge and I felt terrible for months. The doc kept saying in range, but I kept making small changes: a lil iron when tolerable, more greens, cutting dairy around meals, and tracking energy. Stopped when GI issues popped up, so nothing consistent.

Do you think the real clue is something else like inflammation or thyroid, not the number itself?
