What does recovery look like after bronchial thermoplasty for asthma?
#1
I’ve been diagnosed with moderate persistent asthma for years, but lately my usual maintenance inhaler just isn’t cutting it during my evening walks. My doctor mentioned bronchial thermoplasty as a possible option, and I’m trying to understand what the recovery is genuinely like for someone with a similar condition. The idea of a procedure directly on the airways makes me a bit nervous about how my lungs would feel afterwards.

I’ve looked into it and talked with people who did something similar. The few days after the procedure were the roughest—cough, a little chest tightness, and fatigue. Then there was a slow return to walking normally over the next week or two. Not instant relief, more like a slow reboot.

A friend who had bronchial thermoplasty said the first week felt mostly okay, with a bit of soreness and a lingering cough. They still needed inhalers and monitoring, but they noticed a steadier breath during daytime walks after a few months.

I kept a tiny recovery diary after something similar once—notes on cough days, sleep, and how far I could walk without wheezing. The pattern was messy, but it helped me decide when to push a little more and when to rest.

Do you think the real issue could be something else, like triggers in the evening or something beyond the airways?
