What does the final desk shot mean, production error or loop clue?

I was rewatching the finale and I’m stuck on the final shot of the main character’s desk. The pen is placed differently than in the pilot, but the notepad is in the exact same spot. Is this just a production error, or is the show trying to tell us the entire story was a loop? I can’t decide if I’m overthinking a simple continuity mistake or if this is a genuine clue.
