What does upper right abdominal pain after fatty meals mean for the gallbladder?
#1
I’ve been dealing with this persistent, dull ache in my upper right abdomen for a few months now, and my doctor mentioned it could be related to my gallbladder. I’m just not sure what to make of the sensation—it’s not a sharp attack, just this constant, nagging discomfort that seems to get a bit worse after I eat anything fatty. Has anyone else experienced this kind of ongoing biliary pain without the classic severe colic?

I’ve had that same dull nagging ache in the upper right for months. It got a bit worse after fatty meals, and it never felt like a sharp attack. It did make me think about the gallbladder, but I couldn’t pin down what was happening.

A friend had a similar pattern and an ultrasound eventually found gallstones; their discomfort was ongoing, not just when the pain flared.

Could this be something else entirely, not gallbladder, like reflux or an ulcer?

I tried keeping a simple food diary for a couple weeks and noted that fatty meals tended to correlate with a bump in discomfort, but the pattern wasn’t consistent and I didn’t have a clear trigger.
