I just saw the trailer for the new sci-fi movie and I’m honestly a bit confused about the main character’s ability. It looks like he can phase through solid objects, but the preview shows him doing it inconsistently, like it only works when he’s in danger. Is that a power limitation they’re setting up, or is the editing just being misleading?

I watched the trailer and it felt inconsistent to me. He seems to phase through walls when the moment is tense and not in calmer scenes.

Maybe the writers want to plant the idea that the power costs him something or only works when fear hits a peak.

I am not sure there is a real rule yet and I am not confident about what I saw. It could be editing or a hidden limit.

Do you think the problem is in the writing or in the editing?
