What game has Elden Ring's exploration but smaller in size?
#1
I just finished my first playthrough of Elden Ring and I'm honestly stuck on what to do next. The sheer scale of the game has left me feeling a bit lost now that it's over, like I need another world just as deep to get absorbed in. I'm looking for a game with that same sense of vast, rewarding exploration and punishing but fair combat, but maybe a bit less overwhelming in total size. Any suggestions that fit that specific itch?

I'd try Dark Souls 3 on a sale. It scratches that punishing but fair vibe without the huge map, and the world feels earned even when you don't map every corner.

Bloodborne really clicked for me if you want fast combat and moody design. Fewer areas than a big open world, but each place hits hard and the exploration pays off after you push through a few bosses.

I dabbled in Hollow Knight for a change of pace, kept getting lost in the tiny tunnels and secrets, and I kept taking little detours. It reminded me how world design can reward you even in a smaller space, though I drifted back to craving a 3D world with tougher fights.

Do you want something you can dip into in shorter bursts, with a tight loop of exploration and boss fights?
