I just watched the new sci-fi movie and I’m still trying to figure out the rules of the alien technology they introduced halfway through. One character mentioned the quantum decoherence field, but then the plot seemed to ignore its own established logic in the final act. Did anyone else feel like the science just became a convenient plot device?

I caught that line too. the idea of a quantum decoherence field sounded cool, like a real sci fi hook. then the final act just waved it away and pretended the setup mattered less, which felt like a cheat.

I kept rewinding to see if I missed the rules, and every time a new scene hit, the stakes shifted again. It started to feel like the tech existed mainly to create a gimmick rather than to drive the story.

I tried to map the logic on a napkin, and the more I did, the clearer it got that the film needed a quick workaround. maybe there was a meta play about information loss, but it never got clarified and I kept staring at the clock. also I couldn't help noticing the lab fridge had a note about coffee, which oddly matched the mood.

Do you think the real issue is that the movie wanted a mind bending reveal but the setup never earned it?
