What helped you sleep better with a lingering dry cough?
#1
I’ve been dealing with a persistent, dry cough for about three weeks now and my doctor mentioned it could be post-viral, but it’s starting to really disrupt my sleep. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of lingering issue after a cold and what finally helped you get some rest.

I know that feeling. I had a similar dry cough after a cold and it kept me up for nights. I started running a humidifier on low all night and I propped my head up a bit more. The air felt less dry and the coughing softened enough to sleep a little better.

I tried honey in tea and a nasal saline spray before bed. It helped for an hour or so, then the cough came back. I kept at it for a week but it didn't fix it.

Do you think it could be something else going on, or is it really just post viral lingering? A friend mentioned reflux showing up as a nighttime cough.

For me it lingered three weeks then faded slowly over another week or two. No fireworks, just waves at night sometimes. If it keeps waking you, I would circle back with a clinician, even if they said post viral.
