What helps keratosis pilaris on the back of my arms?
#1
I’ve been dealing with these small, rough patches of skin on the back of my arms for years, and my doctor just called it keratosis pilaris. I’ve tried various moisturizers, but nothing seems to make the bumps and redness go away completely. I’m curious if others have found anything that actually smooths the skin texture out for good.

I’ve had keratosis pilaris on the backs of my arms for years too. Nothing ever went away completely, but a dermatologist suggested a routine with a gentle exfoliant (lactic or glycolic) and a thick cream with urea at night. After a few weeks the texture felt smoother and the redness faded a bit, but it didn’t vanish.

I tried lots of OTC stuff: moisturizers with ceramides, petrolatum, even coconut oil. Some days it felt a touch smoother, then it would bounce back. The ingredients mattered more than the brand to me, but results were inconsistent.

Have you noticed if keeping baths lukewarm and avoiding very hot water makes the bumps less irritated, or does it not matter?

I once joined an online thread where someone swore their arms got better after a big shift in humidity and a simple weekly scrub. I tried a once‑a‑week sugar scrub, nothing dramatic, and then blamed the season more than my routine. It’s funny how little things can feel like progress and then vanish.
