What helps with pinguecula and eye dryness and redness from sun exposure?
#1
I’ve been noticing a persistent, tiny yellowish bump on the white of my eye, near the iris. My optometrist called it a pinguecula and said it’s from sun exposure, but it sometimes gets irritated and feels gritty. Has anyone else managed the dryness and redness that comes with this?

I get it. I had something like that years ago, a tiny yellow bump near the white of my eye. It tended to flare when the air was dry or I was in bright sun. I started wearing sunglasses more and using preservative-free artificial tears several times a day. A humidifier at night helped the gritty feeling settle a bit, and if I remembered to blink, it didn’t bug me as much.

My experience is that the drops sometimes stung, so I switched to a preservative-free brand and that helped. I also stopped rubbing my eyes and kept a small humidifier on. If I skip drops for a day or two, dryness creeps back.

Do you think the real issue might be the dryness or allergies rather than the bump? I sometimes wonder if the irritation comes from dust and wind more than the bump.

Honestly, some days I just accept it and keep going. It still shows up, but on the days I wear sunscreen and use drops, it feels a bit smoother. Not a cure, just less annoying.
