What homemade degreaser really cleans a greasy stovetop without scratching glass?
#1
I’m trying to find a truly effective way to clean my greasy stovetop without using harsh chemicals. I’ve tried vinegar and baking soda, but the baked-on grease just doesn’t budge, and I’m worried about scratching the glass surface. Has anyone found a reliable homemade degreaser that actually works for this?

I tried the hot water soak trick with a squirt of dish soap and a plastic scraper. The heat and moisture loosens the grease on the flat areas, and a microfiber wipe gets most of it off. The really baked-on patches won’t shift, though, and I have to go light on the scrub to avoid micro-scratches on the glass.

Then I mixed hot water, a drop of dish soap, and a squeeze of lemon juice and let it sit. The citrus helped break the film a bit, and the soft mitt finished the job, but it still left some crust. It’s doable, just not a miracle.

I also tried a baking soda paste and skipped steel wool because I’m scared to scratch. I think the key is to soften first, then go gentle with a microfiber. I’ll be honest, some spots barely budge, and I end up masking them with a cleaner spray and moving on.

Do you think the issue is really the surface texture or burn marks rather than grease?
