What is causing inconsistent frametimes in AAA titles with RAM XMP?

I’ve been noticing my frametimes get really inconsistent in the latest AAA titles, even though my average FPS looks fine on paper. It’s that subtle stutter that makes aiming feel off, and I’m wondering if my RAM’s XMP profile might actually be the culprit.

I had a similar thing last year when I turned on XMP and the average FPS looked fine but the stutter showed up during quick camera moves.

I fiddled with the memory timing a bit while keeping the speed the same and did a long session, I saw a spike in frametime here and there but no clean fix.

Do you think the issue is the RAM profile or is there a bigger culprit behind the stutter?

I tried disabling XMP and leaving the kit at stock timing and the stutter shifted but did not disappear, so I am not sure it is the memory alone.
