What is the final scene saying about victory or surrender?
#1
I just finished watching the movie and I’m still turning over the final scene in my head. The way the character just walked away from everything, leaving that object on the table, made me wonder if we were supposed to see it as a victory or a total surrender. I can’t decide what the filmmaker’s ultimate point was.

I watched it twice and the way he just leaves the table feels like a quiet victory that costs him something important.

I am not sure there is a single point to grab onto, it felt more mood than message.

Do you think that object is a lure or a hinge for what comes next?

I did a slow beat by beat check in my head and kept circling the camera work the way the frame pauses on the object then on his back as he steps away.

Maybe the real problem is not the scene but my own craving for a clean ending and that is why I am stuck.
