What is the name of the final confrontation track in heat and who composed it?

I've been trying to find the specific piece of music that plays during the final confrontation in the 1995 film *Heat*, but every search just brings up the main Moby track. I know it’s a tense, minimalist score with strings, but I can't pin down the composer or if it was even released on the official album.

That final standoff is scored by Elliot Goldenthal, not Moby, from what I remember. The tension comes from minimalist strings, which feels very different from the end title cue. That particular confrontation cue isn’t obviously released on the main soundtrack album, at least in the original press.

I spent a lot of time trying to pin it down too. I think the cue never showed up as a separate track on the original Heat soundtrack, it was just part of the score in the movie. Fans often talk about it as just part of Goldenthal’s score without a named track.

Your best bet is an expanded release or a years that edition, sometimes via La-La Land or Varese Sarabande. They sometimes layer in extra Goldenthal cues that weren’t on the first pressing. If you can’t find it, you’re not alone.

Could you be thinking of God Moving Over the Face of the Waters by Moby? that piece plays over the ending montage, not the confrontation, and memory often blurs them.
