What keeps a morning routine from sticking after a few weeks?
#1
I’ve been trying to get into a consistent morning routine for months, but I keep hitting a wall around the 3-week mark. I manage to wake up early, do some light stretching, and eat a good breakfast, but then I just lose all momentum. Has anyone else experienced this plateau where the initial motivation wears off and the habit doesn’t quite stick?

Yep, I’ve been there. The first couple of weeks felt easy, and then around week three the momentum evaporated. I kept waking up early and eating a good breakfast, but the core habit stalled. I even tried keeping a tiny log of wins for a few days, and then I just stopped writing anything down.

I wonder if the problem isn’t motivation but whether the time block or the routine itself actually fits the day. If the alarm goes off fine but the stretch and focus fade after a couple hours, it’s easy to lose the thread.

I tried an accountability check‑in for a week with a friend, texting first thing to confirm we’d both do 20 minutes of movement. It helped a little, but after day six the momentum vanished again and I slid back into the old pattern.

One morning I got hung up on the exact order of steps and tried to micro‑optimize the routine instead of just doing it. I even loosened the sequence a bit and slept a notch better, which bought me a few days. Could it be that sleep quality or caffeine timing is the real lever here?
