What lotion helps keratosis pilaris on my upper arms?
#1
I’ve been dealing with these stubborn red bumps on my upper arms for years, and my regular moisturizer just seems to make them feel rougher. I’m wondering if this is actually keratosis pilaris and if there’s a specific type of lotion or ingredient I should even be looking for.

I've dealt with bumpy upper arms too, and I think this could be keratosis pilaris. It started as rough, tiny red bumps that stuck around. I kept it simple at first with fragrance-free moisturizer, and then I tried a keratolytic cream at night (lactic acid or urea). The texture softened after a few weeks, but it never fully disappeared.

It might be something else like eczema or a contact reaction. I once blamed the lotion and switched to something very plain and unscented. The bumps didn't vanish, but the skin felt less irritated after a week.

I experimented with AHAs and salicylic acid in low doses—started slow, every other day, patch tested first. I saw a little flattening, but it plateaued. The barrier-friendly moisturizers with ceramides helped the skin feel less dry, but the bumps stayed.

I keep wondering if the real issue is dryness or friction—tight shirts, sweating, or shaving. Not sure that's the root cause. Do you have a family history of KP or other skin conditions?
